Every night shift has a quiet hour, and Under the Chief builds five CandyShorts episodes of under two minutes out of one, led by Harriet Seagrave. Its heat level is Scorching.
How the night shift starts
Harriet is on the last night of her probation. The head nurse wants her gone, and the chief of surgery keeps looking her way. When the final operation ends, the floor goes silent, and the chief points out that it would be a shame to spend that silence on paperwork.
He steers her to the only quiet room on the floor. She apologizes for her scrubs, he reassures her, and then the head nurse, Vanessa, interrupts with a reminder about the board's deadline. He tells Vanessa to cancel it and keep everyone away. The door closes on the tension, and episode 1 ends there.
Episode 2 follows the premise: the chief locks the on-call room for some very personal mentoring, while the head nurse waits outside and wants Harriet fired.
