Where episode 1 leaves you
Slade comes for sun and a relaxed holiday with his girlfriend Gretchen. At the beach house he meets her family, and the stepmom, Holly, is nothing like the picture he had in his head. He stumbles over his words, and she enjoys it.
Her husband and her stepson are close by, which is the point: every look has to happen in a hallway or behind someone's back. Gretchen's best friend Brittany then walks in, and a small twist about who remembers whom adds a second thread. Holly makes clear she is willing to play.
Episode 2 is premise level: the house is full, the days are long and nobody gets much privacy. The tension is about getting caught, more than getting together.
